The annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Hajj, holds deep significance for Muslims worldwide as one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a mandatory religious duty for those who are physically and financially able to make the journey at least once in their lifetime. The Hajj commemorates the trials and sacrifices of Prophet Abraham, his wife Hagar, and their son Ishmael, symbolizing unity, equality, and submission to Allah. Dressed in white robes, pilgrims perform a variety of rituals over several days, including circumambulating the Kaaba, standing in prayer on the Plain of Arafat, and stoning the devil in Mina. These rituals inspire a sense of Muslim brotherhood, humility, and spiritual renewal worldwide. The Hajj also serves as a powerful reminder of the fleeting nature of life and the ultimate goal of seeking the pleasure of Allah. By performing this sacred duty, Muslims return home with a renewed sense of purpose and devotion for forgiveness, purity, and a deeper connection to their faith.
